Congratulations to Tom Stewart, Coates Lab alum, for his new position as Assistant Professor in Biology at Penn State University! Tom’s dissertation focused on the adipose fin and its developmental/evolutionary origins. Upon completing his PhD, he worked in Gunter Wagner’s lab at Yale on the developmental genetics of digits and the origin of the avian wing. He is currently a postdoc in Neil Shubin’s lab here working on the fin-to-limb transition in early tetrapods. Tom enjoys blinking and studying blinking as well. Congrats again!
